about

A rondel is a fixed verse form that consists of two quatrains followed by either a quintet or a sestet. This is two rondel primes: the first and the second lines end the second quatrain and the first line ends the quintent.

lyrics

the wound is angry where my heart once lay
my pulse now slowly ebbs and flows
with every beat away more of you goes
a stone against the ocean worn away

the current swift will always hold its sway
no matter the course this sailor chose
the wound is angry where my heart once lay
my pulse now slowly ebbs and flows

mark your course against your fate
its length only the siren knows
take your chance as hope it grows
cast your lot on Peter's gate
the wound is angry where my heart once lay

it was strong once upon a merry time
but one summer i lost your love
when Charon called from his ferry fine
i could not fill his glove

and so i sang our love was made a rhyme
fed my heart to flights of doves
it was strong once upon a merry time
but one summer i lost our love

mark the beat this song my crime
its tune a constant push and shove
sing with choirs all from above
hollow carols do my heart mime
it was strong once upon a merry time
